Welcome to Keighley Angling Club Website
Here you can find out where to fish our waters , what you can hope to catch there and also where to purchase your tickets. Hopefully in time you will be able to send in pictures of your catches to include on our gallery. We are also hoping that a lively forum may be possible where members can share tips and ideas with one another to enhance there time spent on the great fishing KAC has to offer.
If your a keen match angler or simply wanting to become involved in this aspect of the club then the website is a place to find out when and where matches are to be held. Our match secretary Steve Parker is always more than happy to help and encourage anyone who wishes to become involved and his number can be found on the events page.
All the club rules are here for day ticket anglers as well as full members.
Further news of events such as Work Parties , stockings (including the rolling barbel programme ) will be posted and we will hopefully keep our members up to date with intersesting developments. AGM dates etc are also to be found and members are encouraged to attend.
The Website is a new venture for the club so please bare with us through our early days but we are sure it wil be a benefit to all.
Tight Lines"
River on Form
For those getting on the river between the heavy rains there has been some good fishing.Chub and chublet along with dace and grayling are providing members with some good mixed bags.
IILEGAL FISHING
Good and bad news this week!! The bad news is that irresponsible anglers continue to fish the river for coarse fish with such baits as maggots and bread etc and others are fishing for pike under the pretence of fishing for trout. The good news is some have been caught by one of the regular EA patrols and are now going to court. Lets hope these bad eggs recieve the full letter of the law!! Please if you fish the river during the close season make sure you are genuinley targeting trout with only small trout spinners ,worm or fly.Remember every other method is not allowed during this time. The club Baliffs will not tolerate any discrepancies and obviously neither will the EA.If you see anyone fishing without a license ,illegaly taking fish or fishing for species they shouldnt, do not hesitate to call the EA and ask for an officer to attend.
Working Party
After all the complaints about Roberts pond which continue to come in only 3 non committe members turned up to help. Many of the guys in the pictures have served the club selfishly for donkeys years and even in ill health turn up to undertake the hard physical labour required and do sterling work again and again. Please if your one of the complainers take a look at the photos ,then get in touch with the club and do something to help in the future.
Fish thefts!!!!!!!!!!!
Its believed that the River Aire is being targeted by fish thieves. These unscrupulous thieves usually dont even have the relevant club or Rod and Line licences. Its also suspected that they are refering to press reports amd match results to target areas. Please if you see or suspect any one at any time of these crimes do not hesitate to call both the Enviroment Agency and the Police at any time. Please remove any night lines or other bogus traps you may find.
